Hailing from Melbourne, Mia began her ballet career at the age of 4, training with Anna Veretennikova and Jane Moore, and by age 12, she was already on stage with the Australian Ballet as Young Clara in Graeme Murphy’s The Nutcracker. Daughter to Australian Ballet’s Steven Heathcote and Kathy Reid, Mia was born into the ballet world. “From when I was very little I couldn’t help but move to music,” she says, recognising that despite her family connection, “the choice had to be my own or I wouldn’t be here now.”
In 2010 she?was accepted into The Australian Ballet School where she received her Advanced Diploma of Dance, before joining the Queensland Ballet as a Company Artist in 2014. Mia’s talent was clear and she quickly advanced, first to the role of Soloist in 2017, and after a stand out performance of Juliet in Sir- Kenneth Macmillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Mia was promoted to Senior Soloist in 2019.
Mia has danced an extensive repertoire with the Queensland Ballet. "Madame de Tourvel" and "Cecile Volanges" in Dangerous Liaisons, “Titania" in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and "Juliet" in Sir Kennneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet. Mia will be bringing the passion and intimacy of Juliet from Romeo and Juliet to audiences, alongside her real life Romeo, Victor Estévez.
